Rob Garrett - Curator


I am delighted to announce, that our next speaker is one of the most respected and influential identities in the art community in Auckland.


Rob Garrett, BFA (Elam, Auckland) and MA (Otago) is an independent curator and arts leader. He has 35 years' experience in the visual arts, as curator, senior manager, writer, arts entrepreneur, strategist, government advisor, teacher and artist. He has long experience in start-ups; leading arts organisations and teams; and change management; and is a specialist in commissioning artist projects and all aspects of public art planning and implementation.


He has a deep understanding of what makes good art and where photography fits into the art world.


 


He will be speaking on the influence of photography in today's art world.

Today, Rob runs Rob Garrett Contemporary Fine Art Ltd, where he provides multiple services as an independent curator and arts management consultant committed to arts development, innovation and excellence in the visual arts. Rob Garrett offers curatorial leadership and programming; advisory services and strategic thinking; and practical hands on support to artists, arts businesses and not-for-profits, government and public sector organisations, arts lovers and others in the arts sector.
