AWHITU LANDSCAPE TOUR

Explore this remote peninsular so rich in magnificent scenery and capture spectacular landscape images.

This tour starts at the historic village in Waiuku one hour out of Auckland, move up the peninsular to Pollack, taking in the majestic sweeps over the Manukau with deeply contoured valleys extending back to the harbour. Wind swept pohutakawas, before reaching the historic lighthouse overlooking the entrance to the Manukau Harbour.  We pick up a few picturesque bays on the northern edge of the peninsula before heading south to pick up historic buildings, Hamilton's gap and onto Karioitahi, where we have the typical west coast beach sprinkled with waterfalls that descend over towing cliffs. Here we use a dune buggy to reach some of the more remote and scenic areas.  We then have a picnic dinner on the beach while we prepare for sunset at 7:37pm as the sun dips over the shimmering water.
