Queenstown Autumn Colours

NZ PHOTOGRAPHIC TOURS - AUTUMN COLOURS 2015

The following tour is run as a private trip for groups of four persons per vehicle with 8 persons maximum. Our tours are suitable for all levels of photographers. Working out of four by four vehicles with no more than 100 to 200 meters of walking at most locations our tours suits people of all fitness levels. Your guide and conceirge will take care of all logistics which allows photographers to focus on getting the best shots of the amazing scenery.

Photography is the main focus on our adventure but we allow time for you to enjoy other activities while on tour. We pride ourselves on flexibility and are happy to arrange a customised tour to suit your needs. We can change schedule to at short notice, taking into account local lighting and weather conditions to take advantage of these ever changing variables.

ITINERARY

Day one QUEENSTOWN - MILFORD SOUND

Departing Queenstown on-board the TSS Earnslaw we steam across Lake Wakatipu. Arriving at Walter Peak Station we meet our guide in luxury four wheel drive vehicles. Taking the less travelled lakeside trail we explore the Mavora Lakes via the Von Valley. Passing through the Eglinton Valley in the late afternoon light we arrive into Milford Sound where we meet Michael Ng who has been on another mission in Fiordland. L+D.

Day two MILFORD SOUND - NOKAMAI

Rise early to kayak or cruise with nature while the stunning Milford Sound scenery unfolds at sunrise. After our cruise we explore along the Milford Road, Homer Tunnel, Hollyford area and Lake Manapouri. "the lake of many islands", with over 30 wooded islands, surrounded by lush rainforest interspersed with secluded beaches. If time allows we will visit the bee high above the southern rolling green grassland of Southland before heading to a large back-country station that evening. B+L+D

Day three NOKAMAI - CLYDE

Next morning capture a high country muster in action. We then journey through the Nevis Valley, a vast deserted landscape 26 river crossings, historic gold mining ruins, lonely headstones, and long abandoned dredging ponds,  the autumn colours are stunning here. As we leave the valley we venture through large rock tors including a secret 'hole in the rock' with fantastic afternoon views of Lake Dunstan. Tonight relax at Cromwell's Wild Earth where their delicious food is cooked in Pinot Noir Wine Barrels matched expertly with their world class wine, embracing the essence of Central Otago's pioneering spirit. We stay the night Clyde. B+L+D

Day four CLYDE - BEN LOMAND

Wake in historic Clyde town-ship with numerous heritage buildings offering many photo opportunities within walking distance. Discover the dry, arid, wind carved landscape and, by the hand of man, a renowned New Zealand produce growing area with one of the best autumn colour displays. We will take you to the best photo destinations depending on the colours and available light. Possible journey to the alpine sky castles before heading to our high country lodge. Once settled in we head out for a sunset shoot. B+L+D

Day five BEN LOMAND - QUEENSTOWN

Awake before dawn, and head out to photograph an alpine mirror lake bathed in the golden light casting a shadow play on the mountain sides, and reflections on the lake. We spend the best part of the day here with an option of visiting Skippers Canyon before journeying back to Queenstown for your connecting flights at 3 pm. B+L
