TRAVEL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR BEGINNERS

 


A creative course run by the "CONTEMPORARY PHOTOGRAPHY FOUNDATION" and the "KINDER HOUSE TRUST".




INTRODUCTION.


Learn the essentials of photography in the beautiful surroundings of Kinder House. The home of one of New Zealand’s earliest photographers.


If you are only using your camera on automatic, you are missing out on the real art of photography. This course is about learning how to use your camera with confidence and skill.


With a blend of technical tuition. Practical assignments and group discussion, you will discover how to unlock your cameras potential. 


The course is divided into two main areas: Firstly Camera Basics. Secondly Better Travel Pictures.





Concept


This provides an excellent grounding in all the essentials required to operate the camera.



  1. How Cameras Work

  2. Understanding the digital Single Lens Reflex camera. (SLR)

  3. Aperture

  4. Exploring Depth of Field

  5. Shutter Speed

  6. ISO Setting

  7. Understanding Exposure

  8. The Light Meter

  9. Tying It All Together


 


Having learnt how the camera works, the course then explains some of the basic elements of composition, light and framing.


Finally there is some practical advise on how to use the camera to capture travel pictures.


 



Learning outcomes


A good understanding of the basics of photography, terminology, techniques and solutions for specific challenges allowing you to unleash your creative potential.





Who should attend


Those new to digital Single Lens Reflex (SLR) photography, or those coming back to photography after many years away.


Whilst this course is in itself a stand alone workshop and covers the general concept of Photography it offers a great starting point for other photography courses. .

A digital SLR or film SLR camera.
