HOW PHOTOGRAPHERS CAN USE THE INTERNET - KENT ROUTEN

Kent Routen (www.kiwiise.com) will speak on the power and the opportunities that exist for photographers to promote themselves or just share images on the internet.

The internet is the world's biggest photo album, consuming millions of images a day. Digital imaging is exploding at viral rates as it grows exponentially every day. Conversely photographers are printing fewer images than ever before.

Kent will tell us how we can make the transition and use the internet as our album. Be it an image hosting site, a social network site or a personal domain Kent will enlighten us on what's happening on the internet for photographers.

TIMING: Ist Tuesday of the month. Tuesday 4th September at 7:15pm

Please try to bring a guest.

EVENTS PAST AND PRESENT

TRELISE COOPER CATWALK

The Trelise Cooper Catwalk shoot at Coutts Mercedes was a huge success with just on 25 photographers taking part and 15 people on the waiting list.  Well done to those that posted images on Facebook.

Remember images can be exhibited in the Fashion Exhibition being held by CPF at Kinder House at 5:30pm  20th  September.

If you wish to show some of your fashion images on Tuesday 4th Sept at the monthly meeting, there will be a display area for Fashion photography.

INTRODUCTION TO LIGHTROOM

Held on 21st August this was well attended by a very attentive team. Special thanks to Mead Norton (http://www.meadnorton.com) for his technical contribution. Based on the demand for this course there will be more post-processing courses.

LIGHTING COURSE

We are now 3/4 way through this course, which has had great support from a very enthusiastic band of photographers. It has covered all forms of lighting and it has been a super privilege to have the facilities of WHITE STUDIOS as a base to work from.  Special thanks to Charles Howells for his periodic visits. Images from the course can be shown at the next monthly meeting.

NZ FASHION WEEK

A team of photographers are invited to shoot at the Trelise Cooper parade during the NZ Fashion Week. This will take place on 5th September, at the Viaduct Event Centre, Downtown Auckland.

The photographers will form a "press gallery" and shoot from a designated platform at the end of the catwalk. This is a unique opportunity to shoot a real live "Hi-Fashion" parade by one of New Zealand's top designers. For details check out, the website http://www.cpf.org.nz/course/course_detail/67

TUTORED PHOTOWALK - HERITAGE

Our friends at Kinder House are participating in the Auckland Council's HERITAGE ACTIVITIES by hosting a Heritage Exhibition.

I would like to make a special appeal to participate in this event. As a way of generating images, we will have two Photowalks.

HERITAGE PHOTOWALK PONSONBY. Tour some of Ponsonby's older buildings. 13th September.

HERITAGE PHOTOWALK KINDER HOUSE. We are arranging a vintage car club and group of models to do a location shoot at Kinder House. 20th September

PERSONAL IMAGES.  Please submit your personal images to the "Kinder House" - Heritage Exhibition.

                  KINDER HOUSE - HERITAGE EXHIBITION

Photographers are invited to Exhibit their work at the Kinder House, Parnell during the Auckland Heritage Festival from 29th September to 14th October. The exhibition calls for Heritage prints, the scope is entirely open so do not feel you have to do historically important sites. There will be a people's choice winner, plus a Judges choice.

The exhibition is being run by the Kinder House Trust. Just deliver images to Kinder House by 28th September. More details are available at:  http://www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/EN/newseventsculture/events
